The Brookline Brawlaz and the Liberty Tunnel Tacticians were both fierce and formidable teams, each with their own unique play styles and loyal fan bases. The Brawlaz wore navy blue, orange, and silver uniforms. They were an underdog team of goblins and orcs, led by the clever and charismatic goblin quarterback Hanzo. The Tacticians wore uniforms with white, red, and black stripes. A team mainly of zombies, a few humans, and a legendary vampire. The Tacticians captain Drakfang, the vampire quarterback, was last year's Most Valuable Monster. The two quarterbacks rivalry had a long history, but this was the first time they would face each other in the Monster Bowl. The stakes were high, and the tension was thick in the air.
The game started with a bang, as both teams scored touchdowns in the first quarter. Hanzo threw a perfect pass to his wide receiver, who dodged the Tacticians defenders and ran into the end zone. Drakfang responded with a touchdown of his own, using his vampire speed and strength to break through the Brawlaz line and sprint to the goal. The crowd went wild, cheering and chanting for their favorite team.
The second quarter was equally exciting, as both teams scored another touchdown. This time, it was the running backs that shined as they displayed their elusive skills and stamina. Okie Oda, the Brawlaz speedy running back, scored thanks to a devastating block by Rex, the orc fullback pulverized an opposing zombie and blinded a bearded human with the shattered shrapnel. The Tacticians fullback, a muscle-bound human named Franco, scored on a running play by using his strength and endurance, shrugging off tackles from the Brawlaz defenders. The score was tied at 14-14 at halftime, and the fans were on the edge of their seats. This game was a nail-biter from the start!
Halftime Break
Myron Noll: Welcome to the Monster Bowl XXIV halftime show, where the Brookline Brawlaz are tied with the Liberty Tunnel Tacticians at 14-14. What a performance by the Brawlaz in the first half, especially by their quarterback, Hanzo. Can you believe they are keeping up with last years Champions.
Randy Savage: Absolutely, Hanzo has been on fire today, throwing for a touchdown and has no interceptions. The under dogs are biting!
Myron Noll: On the other hand, the Tacticians have been equally as impressive on offense and defense. Although Drakfang has had his passing game contained by the Brawlaz defense. It has been a pounding ground game for the Tacticians instead with Drakfang showing great mobility and extending plays. Franco has been running up and down the field too with little resistance.
Randy Savage: Always amazing Myron, the Tacticians need to make a few adjustments in the second half if they want to balance their offense out. The Brawlaz need to avoid mistakes and try to find a way to take over the momentum. Both defenses are beyond talented I wouldn't be surprised if one of them step up. I sure could go for an ice cold Orca-Cola right about now because this games about to get extra spicy!
Myron Noll: Exactly Savage! You are always on target. Well, we'll see if either team can take control, but for now, let's enjoy the rest of the halftime show, featuring the legendary rock band, Ghouls in Chains. Stay tuned after these moaning melodies for more Monster Bowl action!
Game On
The third quarter was a defensive battle, as both teams struggled to gain yards and make plays. The Brawlaz and the Tacticians both had excellent defenses, and they knew each other's strengths and weaknesses well. They anticipated and countered each other's moves, forcing turnovers and punts. The only points scored in the third quarter were field goals, one by each team, making the score 17-17.
The fourth quarter was the decisive one, as both teams gave all their blood, sweat, and tears to try to win the game. Drakfang led the Tacticians on a scoring drive, using his arm and his legs to move the ball down the field. He completed several short passes, gaining small chunks of yards, but just enough to keep the chains moving. He also ran the ball himself several times using his vampire agility and reflexes to evade the Brawlaz defenders. He wrapped up the drive with a touchdown pass to his running back, a zombie named Jawbone Drew, who had no choice in catching the football because the power of the throw lodged the ball straight into the players helmet face mask! It was ruled a catch and touchdown. The Tacticians took the lead, 24-17, and gave the ball back to the Brawlaz with less than 3:33 left on the game clock.
Hanzo knew he had to score, and he was determined to do so. He rallied his team, and drove them down the field with style and pizzazz. He made passes and runs, showing off his athleticism. He also used the help of his teammates. Rex, who had quickly recovered from a knee shaking Drakfang hit, was back in the game, and he provided protection and power for Hanzo. While Okie Oda, supplied the speed and finesse for the team. The Brawlaz fought ferociously down the field and eventually reached the Tacticians two yard line. Hanzo had a plan.
The Brawlaz called a timeout, and Hanzo gathered his team around him. He told them the secret play he wanted to run, and they nodded in agreement. This wasn't going to be any ordinary quarter back sneak and the team knew it was risky, but they trusted Hanzo. They broke from the huddle, and lined up for the snap. The play was called Sky High, and it was designed for Hanzo to run the ball, but not in a conventional way. The play involved Rex picking up and launching Hanzo forward in the air over the line of scrimmage. Where he would soar over the heads of the Tactician defenders, and if lucky land in the end zone. It was a crazy and daring play, but it was also mischievously brilliant and had a significant chance of blindsiding the defense!
"Hut 99!... Hut 99!.. Hike!"
The ball was snapped to Hanzo. He took one step back towards Rex and then jumped straight up. Rex who was waiting for this signal, rushed ahead and grabbed Hanzo with all of his orc strength. The fullback then swung around adding to the momentum of force needed to propel Hanzo forward. With perfect timing, Rex infused his throw with the force of the swing and shot the goblin off. Both of the players let out a mighty roar. Hanzo soared through the air, like a goblin missile. He saw the end zone below him, and he reached out his arms, clinching the ball tightly. He also saw Drakfang, who was standing in the end zone, staring up at him with a puzzled look. Drakfang quickly realized what was happening, and he leaped up, trying to stop Hanzo. He stretched out his arm, and tried to grab at the flying goblin, or at least knock the ball out of his grasp. Unfortunately the vampires reaction to the trick play was a second too late. Hanzo crash landed in the end zone, slightly dazed but with the ball still in his hands. He had scored a touchdown, and he had done it in the most spectacular way possible.
The crowd erupted in cheers of jubilation, the scoreboard changed. It was now 24-23. The Brookline Brawlaz could tie the game at 24 with an easy extra point, but with only seconds left on the clock. Hanzo made the call. The Brawlaz decided to go for the two-point conversion, to win the game. Hanzo hated overtime, and he wanted to end the game on his own terms. He strategically huddled up with his team to make a plan to overcome this do-or-die situation. Would it be another unorthodox play from the Brawlaz? Hanzo got the snap, and tossed it to Rex, the bullish orc with rage filled eyes charged forward head down with the force of a locomotive! Drakfang was expecting this, a traditional play considering the gravity of the situation. Vampires are the most tactical monsters, thought Drakfang. However, Hanzo was the cleverest goblin to ever grace the gridiron. Hanzo wasn't thinking about what was practical or the probabilities. The goblin quarterback went with his natural instincts and that was to be tricky!
Rex lifted his head and slammed on his brakes planting his front foot in the dirt and turning back towards Hanzo's direction. The fullback chucked the ball underhand towards the waiting quarterback. Hanzo caught the ball and rolled to his right hunting for an open receiver. He saw Okie, who had ran a slant route, and with his super speed was wide open in the corner of the end zone. Hanzo rocketed the ball to Okie. The speedy running back focused on the football flying towards him, it seemed everything was moving in slow motion. Okie Oda became nervous for a split second remembering how many of Hanzo's rocket passes he has dropped in the past. One actually broke his finger, no joke. Okie regained his composure and with a deep breath reached out for the bullet like ball and caught it with a zing. The Brawlaz had scored the two-point conversion, and they got it done in another unexpected way. The crowd went absolutely bonkers!
The Brookline Brawlaz have won the Monster Bowl, 25-24. The underdog Brawlaz secured their victory thanks to trickery, guts, and overall teamwork. Hanzo was declared the Most Valuable Monster. The goblin quarterback has overthrown Drakfang and takes the championship and MVM Crown. Is this the end to their rivalry or has it just become inflamed eternally? In a victory speech, Okie Oda, announced his retirement and future plan to work for Fumble Magazine! Hanzo, after sipping an ice cold Orca-Cola, thanked his teammates and fans while expressing excitement for next season. Monster Bowl 24 is in the books. History in the making.
